LTF 2013

The Language Testing Forum 2013 was held in Nottingham on November 15 - 17, 2013. It was co-hosted by the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University. The conference organizers were Norbert Schmitt and Diane Schmitt. The theme for the featured sessions of LTF 2013 was "Language Testing: Past, Present, and Future". The 'past' was covered by Cyril Weir in his pre-dinner opening talk on Friday evening, which looked at some of the issues and events in the development of language testing. The 'present' consisted of the papers and posters presented at LTF 2013, highlighting current issues in language testing. The 'future' was addressed in two ways. Glenn Fulcher gave the closing talk and discussed some of the challenges and directions of future language testing. The conference also had an 80-minute session in which Ardeshir Geranpayeh, Cathy Taylor, Norbert Schmitt, and Glenn Fulcher discussed what it takes for aspiring and developing language testing specialists to be successful in the job market and in publishing.
